Boo's Recipe

Shop: Boo's Recipe
Location: Quezon City ( Home Based)

Rose Ann Buscar, or "bubu" as she is fondly called by her friends is my husband's cousin's girlfriend. I first met her on facebook, and then later on, i personally met her at one of sta.ana's gatherings. She is actually a registered nurse, but she still manages to bake for her customers. I think her business actually started because of her love of baking. Later on, she took baking classes and even widened her product offerings. I was lucky to taste her famous "blueberry cheesecake" when i ordered a customized 8 inch cake for my father's birthday. Because i got good results, i trusted her to make floral cupcakes for me as a souvenir for my daughter's christening. She didn't disappoint me. Her cupcakes actually got good feedbacks.

These are the cupcakes that she made for me. I added the ribbons. She took care of the packaging. The cupcake was delicious! It has nuts and it has a creamy texture. The icing was not too sweet, just right. I do not have a picture of the 8 inch cheesecake that she made for me.

This are Boo's Recipes products:

Her new addition: Chocolate Cheesecake

North Park

Restaurant: North Park
Location: Trinoma

If you're a fan of noodles, i would recommend that you go to North Park. You will not be disappointed.

Their menu also serves as the placemat for the plates and utensils.

Appetizer: Jelly Fish Salad with Century Eggs. THIS ONE I REALLY LOVE! I love the silky texture of the jellyfish and how the black sesame seeds add some crunch. The century eggs are to die for i can eat it everyday. I love the slight bitter after taste that it gets. They really compliment each other, just like bread and butter.

I am really a fan of noodles. And i always order Wanton and Beef Noodles. This is the Nanking Beef and Wanton Noodles. There's a bigger version. I went for regular since i'll be the only one who'll eat it. Just the smell of it makes me want to devour it in a second. I chose hongkong noodles. You can go for rice noodles or wheat noodles. The nanking beef is very tender that it fall out once you take a bite of it. It's very tasty and it is mildly sweet. The wantons are so soft and delicate, and it goes very well with their chili sauce.

Lapu-Lapu Fish Fillet with Sweet and Sour Sauce.  The lapu-lapu fish fillet is very delicious! I am a fan of everything sweet and sour. The fish is very tender and it is cooked properly. It has a little bit of crunch. This is definitely a must try from North Park!

Boneless Chicken in Honey Lemon Sauce. I have tried Flavour's of China's Lemon Chicken and i loved it. But North Park's version is a bit too lemony for me. Too sour. Tastes like lemon without honey. And the chicken is a bit undercooked i think.

North Park, definitely a HIT! Although the service is not so good and you have to wait a little for your orders, their dishes are definitely worth your money. Do try their other menu offerings and you will surely not leave without a smile on your face and your tummy.

Oki-Oki Restaurant

Restaurant: Oki-Oki Restaurant
Location: Trinoma

Another  japanese restaurant. Aside from the usual tokyo-tokyo, flavours of china and super bowl.

Beef Dish. This is served on a sizzling plate with bean sprouts. The waitress will ask you if you want the beef to be medium rare or well done. This dish was okay. Beef was not so tender, and the bean sprouts are bland.

Sushi. I forgot what kind of sushi this is. But there's nothing new with it. Just the usual. The great presentation made up for it.

Left: Chicken Teriyaki, Right: Enoki mushrooms wrapped in bacon.
The chicken teriyaki is tender. It's cooked perfectly and the sauce is not too sweet. The bacon was good too. It was thick and juicy! I also love the sauce that came with it. The enoki mushrooms were a bit too chewy and i had a hard time swallowing it.

Yang Chow Rice. It has ham, carrots, and green peas and some chorizo. The serving is huge and it can be shared by two persons.

The service is okay but they are not very attentive.  Atmosphere is relaxing and i like the restaurant's lighting.  Well, for me this restaurant is a HIT. If you're looking for a new japanese restaurant, you should try at Oki-Oki. They have a lot of offerings in their menu. I just not a fan of japanese foods, but if you are, go ahead and try their dishes, it's also very affordable.

Frostings

Shop: Frostings Cupcake
Location: Trinoma

Cupcake stores and shops are all over the metro. After graduating, i'd love to have a cupcake shop, but with a different approach. That's why i said to myself, that as early as possible, i have to learn more about cupcakes. That's why i tried out frosting's cupcake. Actually, i bought this for cara's 4th month and for my husband, obet.

There are many cupcake flavors to choose from, but i started with the premium flavors. Premium flavors costs 45.00PHP, Deluxe flavors 65.00PHP, Fruits 75.00PHP. This cupcake is the Choco Strawberry. This is for cara actually. I find the cupcake too hard. It's not moist. And the strawberry cream on top tastes like artificial strawberry flavoring. There's nothing new or unique about it.

Packaging for single cupcakes.

This one is for obet. Double Dutch Flavor

With chocolate bits.

Usually, cupcakes like this are called neopolitan cupcakes because they have two flavors of batter. But since this is double dutch, expect that the batter flavors are doubled. This is the chocolate batter.

The vanilla batter. This one i personally like. It's moist and it tastes like the real thing. Like double dutch! I like the creamy buttercream frosting with a bit of chocolate. The cupcake itself is very creamy and delicious!

I really can't decide if frostings cupcake is a hit or miss, i have to try the other flavors before i can fully decide.

Max Brenner Chocolate Bar

Restaurant: Max Brenner Chocolate Bar
Location: Greenbelt

When i heard and saw review about Max Brenner Chocolate Bar, i promised myself that i have to try and eat at this restaurant. Max brenner is an israeli restaurant that specializes in chocolate dishes. They are known for their HUG MUG, ALICE CUP and SUCKAO.

You can dine inside or just opt to dine outside.

AMEN!

Some mugs. I want to purchase the hug mug, but they sell it for a steep price. More expensive than the starbucks mugs. In the picture: Kangaroo mug and the Suckao

Boxes for chocolates.

The restaurant's wallpaper is very pretty.

See that? That's a lot of chocolate!

The chocolate passes through pipes and then it comes out on those. It is divided to MILK, WHITE, and DARK.

This is the hug mug. This is the mug that they use for hot chocolates.

I ordered the Venezuela Milk Chocolate for 158.00PHP and danie went for Melting Marshmallow hot chocolate for 158.00PHP + service charge. My order was too sweet because it was pure milk chocolate. I should have ordered a milk chocolate based drink.

Choctails. These are frozen chocolate frappes. I was expecting that it will be served on the Alice Cup. But i was wrong. I was really disappointed. I ordered the Dark Chocolate Mocha Frappe for 268.00PHP. Danie ordered the Starwberry White Chocolate Float for 298.00PHP + service charge.

Overall, Max Brenner Chocolate Bar is a MISS for me. I was disappointed. Max Brenner Chocolate Bar is connected to Le Petit Artisan Bread Shop. So there's really no privacy. Some customers from Le Petit Artisan orders from Max brenner. Max brenner only has 1 staff i think? the guy who makes the chocolate drinks. He is also the cashier and waiter. The one who took our order was a staff or baker from Le Petit Artisan i think? And then some of the menu items are not available. Why not revise their menu? The chocolate pralines are not available. It's a chocolate bar, chocolates should be available. Their drinks are too expensive, but it's pure chocolate though, that's why i understand them when it comes to pricing. Well, i would definitely not go back to max brenner again. I searched for other chocolate bars around makati, and i expect that what happened here, will not happen again.

Bizu Patisserie

Restaurant: Bizu Patisserie
Location: Greenbelt

I really wanted to go to Bizu to buy some french macarons, but my bestfriend danie asked me if i want to have an afternoon tea, and of course i said yes! Afternoon tea at bizu costs 575.00PHP and it is good for two persons. It is served from 3-6pm daily.

View of bizu from outside

Menu

Utensils

Once we were seated inside, the waitress offered us at once a glass of cold water.
After ordering, we decided that we want to dine outside.

And it was a good choice.

Table setting. I love the colors of the couches!

This is a good idea. You don't have to call over and over again the waiter or waitress if you will ask for something, you just press the button and they will attend to your need immediately.

I love the chandelier.

Lemon Wedges, Whip Cream and some Blueberry jam

Bite sized opera cakes, truffle, and macarons de paris

Caramelized Apples with Brie on Croute, Mushroom Duxelle in Vol Au Vent, Herbed Chicken Feta in Ciabatta and Ham and Cheese Croquette. I personally love the ham and cheese croquette, the cheese is oozing with richness and flavor.

Scones and Madeleines

The whole set-up of the afternoon tea.

Great presentation.

Tea cup and tea pot

Tea

We were able to pick what kind of tea we wanted, and i think we chose the wrong one. I didn't like this.

This one, i really like. It's not too sweet and it is extremely satisfying.

Bite sized opera cake

I love the macarons! You can taste the almond meal and the filling is so delicious! The macarons are very delicate.

Truffle

We went inside because i would buy some macarons and a mini cake for take-out.

So many flavors to choose from!

Truffles

Truffles

Mini Cakes

Mini Cakes

This is what you will sea at the back of the counter.

My friend bought 14 pieces of macarons de paris and it costs 615.00PHP, a piece of macaron costs 40.00PHP

I love bizu's interior! My favorite color!

Mini Cake

I chose the Babylon Mini Cake. Light raspberry mousse between layers of almond infused sponge. This costs 195.00PHP

I would definitely dine at bizu again. Waiters and waitresses are very attentive and accomodating. The first thing i noticed is that you don't have to ask them to refill your glass with water again and again. When they see that your glass is half empty, they will immediately refill it without you asking. And, the waiter or waitress assigned to you will always ask you if you need something. That's the kind of service that i want whenever i dine at some restaurant. The food is unique, tasty and delicious. The atmosphere is relaxing. The restaurant is simple, yet very sophisticated, with a soft music playing on the background. If you want to relax or unwind from a hard day's work, you should go here. They offer different food selections. From appetizer to dessert. They also have a branch in glorietta and st.luke's taguig.
